Hysan Development presents【gLEEful Music Busking】programme in Lee Gardens.
 
Hysan is delighted to announce 【gLEEful Music Busking】 programme under Inclusive Culture and Art Series aiming to create an open stage where an array of musicians can perform through regular busking happenings. Hysan has collaborated with a number of local musicians to create a diverse and open music space in Lee Gardens. Various musicians will be featured in this programme to curate dynamic music and vibrant busking scenes in Lee Gardens area. Starting from 19 September (Thursday), every two weeks in the evening, enjoy the unique gLEEful moment.
 
Biography of singers

1. mue
 
mue is a South Korean-born singer-songwriter who grew up in Hong Kong. He is a "bedroom musician" who enjoys the Lo-Fi style of music production. With just a guitar and a computer, he crafts melodies that are emotionally complex yet minimalist in sound, transforming music into a unique "language" to express his feelings. Educated at the Berklee College of Music and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, he has ventured to Sydney, South Korea, and Boston to explore the diverse possibilities of music, ultimately choosing to return to his place of upbringing - Hong Kong.

2. Cyan Chan x Bowen Li
 
Cyan Chan is a rising local jazz singer and double bassist. She received classical training from an early age and shifted her focus to jazz after earning her degree in music.
 
Bowen Li, a local music curator, composer, and pianist. Li studied in London at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (Bmus), and graduated with a major in jazz performance and composition in 2018. After returning to Hong Kong, Li regularly collaborated with various artistic groups such as Wuji Ensemble, Ensemble Transience, Chung Ying Theatre, Bel Canto Singers, and more. He also collaborated with the renowned director Tsai Ming-liang. He has participated in a variety of performances, including major music festivals such as “ Jazz Gala—The Legend and Beyond"in 2019, “Festival Hong Kong 2019 – A Cultural Extravaganza @Shanghai”, Jazz Up” Series: The Present – Jazz Festival of an Inward Journey” in 2021, and the Freespace Jazz Festival in 2019 to 2023. Li is also very active in the Hong Kong jazz scene, performing his originals with the Bowen Li Trio.
 
In addition to performance, Li is a composer, with his compositions featured in the West Kowloon Cultural District's "Freespace Mixtape Vol. 3" and the Jazz World Series album "Our Jazz Pianist." He has also composed and recorded three piano solo pieces for “The Story of Wandering” presented by The Mills. His compositions extend to multimedia theater productions such as "To Someone Alike," Hong Kong Dance Company's "The Last Dance," Ensemble Transience's multimedia concert "Come & Gone."He also worked on the theme song for Freespace Jazz Festival 2023, Cathay Pacific's theme song (arrangement), music for LCSD’s “18dART Community Arts Scheme” (Sha Tin) and the "When in Doubt, Go for a Walk and Beyond" series.

3. Rachel Sung x Michael Chan
 
Rachel Sung is a jazz vocalist with extensive performance experience. In Hong Kong, she has performed at various venues such as M+, Lau Bak Livehouse, Hotel Stage, Kind of Brew, Maggie Choo’s, Lost Stars Livehouse Bar & Eatery, Chez Trente, and Fountain de Chopin. In the United Kingdom, she performed as a vocalist for two big bands and completed an MPhil dissertation on jazz music and vocal improvisation.
Her musical interests primarily lie in traditional jazz, Brazilian jazz, and modern jazz styles. She is easily recognizable for her warm tone and passionate vocal improvisation. She is an avid lover of jazz standards and is keenly interested in storytelling through lyrics and phrasing. She also teaches part-time on jazz history, culture, and music appreciation at a local creative college.
Michael Chan is a jazz guitarist from Hong Kong.
 
Michael first came in contact with Hong Kong’s jazz scene in F2018 under the Fringe Club’s jazz mentorship programme of “Jazz Go Central Jazz Go Fringe”, having the chance to organise jazz events and familiarise himself with many of the local giants.
As a guitarist, Michael studied under the jazz education programme of the Hong Kong Youth Jazz Collective for 3 consecutive years from 2019 - 2022, and was taught by various tutors including Lui Ngao Yuen, Patrick Lui, Joyce Cheung, Scott Murphy, Samuel Chan, as well as  Bowen Li and Dean Li. In parallel, he also studied with Ensemble Transience led by Ted Lo and Teriver Cheung from 2020 - 2021.
 
Determined to advance his musicality and technique, Michael is coached under the supervision of local guitarist Tsui Chin Hung, American traditional jazz guitarist Chris Park and John Stowell under private lessons.
 
Michael is the member of the Fountain House Band, Laborious Hardbop, newly formed Michael Chan Trio, and Gloria Law Quartet formerly in the 7th Wave Septet led by Eason Chan, and also the free improv music group - Fountain Collective, and the local independent indie band - Bad Math. Michael performed in various occasions including in Lost Star Livehouse Bar & Eatery, HKYJC showcases, Innonation Production Livestreams, and Emax - Music Zone and various small scale jazz gigs in Hong Kong. In 2021, Michael co-founded local jazz activist group - Fountain de Chopin and is determined to contribute in fostering the local jazz community with his peers.
 
Michael is also a facilitator for beginner’s jazz education, which he engaged in hosting a 3 months long beginner’s guitar class under 18dART - Sha Tin in Summer 2021.
